Resource Center Opens To Help Residents Impacted By Severe Storms

CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL — A Multi-Agency Resource Center (MARC) opened in Cook County Monday to offer residents a space to recover from severe weather, according to a news release.

The MARC was created to allow residents to access disaster relief services and information, according to the release. It brings together representatives from local and state agencies, as well as essential support organizations. This unique recovery center is open to all Illinois residents impacted by recent storms, according to the release.

"Helping our residents and our communities recover from a disaster is a priority for this agency," said Illinois Emergency Management director Alicia Tate-Nadeau, according to the release. "A storm of this magnitude has had a devastating effect on those who live in these communities. A MARC can help expedite the recovery process by bringing together multiple service providers in a single location to provide on-site assistance. We are grateful to the local health department and various state agencies for their insight and cooperation to ensure we continue to provide the necessary resources to the residents who are recovering from this severe weather event."

According to the release, all residents affected by the recent severe weather can visit the MARC at Thornton High School, located at 15001 Broadway Ave. The facility will be open on Monday, Aug. 24 and Tuesday, Aug. 25 from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
