Serena Hills Fifth Grader Becomes Head Honcho for a Day: Whiz Kid
Our Whiz Kid of the week, Ben Wootton, got to be principal for a day.
Ben Wootton, a fifth grade student at in Flossmoor School District 161, acted as “Principal for the Day” on Tuesday, May 3. Ben’s parents won the unique opportunity by participating in the silent auction during the District 161 PTO’s annual Mardi Gras in February.
Some of Ben’s responsibilities included a meeting with Dr. Donna C. Joy, Superintendent of Schools, conducting morning announcements, a safety check of the building with the custodian, playground supervision, and other duties that arose during the day.
