State to Invest $47M in Cook County Hospitals

St. James and Ingalls hospitals will both receive $2.3 million each for equipment and building upgrades.

Gov. Pat Quinn announced Thursday the state will be investing $47 million in Cook County Area Hospitals.

The spending is part of the "Illinois Jobs Now!" capital construction program. The governor's office claims it will crate more jobs and improve local health care.

  • St. James Hospital will get $2.3 million to replace chillers, a boiler and a generator.
  • Ingalls Memorial Hospital will be getting $2.3 million for new equipment and HVAC upgrades.

“These Cook County hospitals serve the health care needs of some of the state’s most in-need residents,” Quinn said. “These investments create hundreds of good construction jobs while helping these hospitals provide better service to the thousands of patients they serve every single day.”
