Thousands Without Power After Wednesday Storms: ComEd

The Chicago Heights Public Library is expected to start two hours later than usual Thursday because of a power outage.

Storms that brought damaging winds and heavy rain to the area Wednesday night have left thousands without power, according to ComEd's outage map.

At least 20 outages affecting more than 3,000 people in the Chicago Heights area have been reported, according to ComEd.

The Chicago Heights Public Library is expected to open two hours later than usual Thursday morning because of a power outage. The library normal opens at 10 a.m. on Thursdays and staff hope to open by noon.

The largest outage in the Chicago Heights area is near the intersection of Vollmer and Chicago roads, according to ComEd. ComEd crews are working to restore power.

For most of the reported outages, power is expected to be restored sometime Thursday, according to ComEd.
