U.S. Cellular to Shut Olympia Fields Store

The closures are tied to the company's decision to sell its Midwestern markets to Sprint Nextel. U.S. Cell customers will need to switch phones to keep their service.

The U.S. Cellular retail store in Olympia FieldsΒ will close by the end of May as part of the company's $480 million sale of its Midwestern markets to Sprint Nextel, according toΒ Southlandsavvy.com.

The local store is at 2520 Lincoln Hwy.Β Other store closure locations include Country Club Hills, Countryside, Crestwood, Homewood, Chicago, Lansing, Joliet, Oak Lawn, Evergreen Park, Matteson and Orland Park.

All told, the company will close nearly 70 outlets in Illinois and Indiana in a process that will start May 17 and could be completed in about two weeks, according toΒ a story in the Chicago Tribune.
