Tydd’s tart beat out 11 other competitors in the amateur division, the report stated. Stephanie Ferkula placed second with chocolate cupcakes topped with cream cheese frosting, and last year’s winning duo, Meghan Whalen and Lori Prusinski of the Homewood Heritage Commission, came in third with a mocha parfait, the report added.

The five judges determined the winner based on appearance, taste and creativity, the report stated. White Castle won the professional division with the fudge-dipped cheesecake it sells at its restaurants, the report added.
