Brutally Abused Woman, Acquitted of Child Endangerment, Sues Cops Who Arrested Her
When police found Stephanie Patterson, 23, her face was a bloody mess. The officers were called to a Joliet hotel on Jan. 1 to look into a report of someone screaming. They found a squalid and smelly hotel room, and two children, ages 2 and 1, left alone. Patterson had left after her husband beat her, and returned to the parking lot later where police found her.
And they arrested her. A judge acquitted her of child endangerment charges, and now she’s suing the cops who arrested her. Should she have been arrested at all?
