1 In Custody After Shots Fired In St. Charles: Police
An Aurora man faces charges for accidentally firing a gun while walking in St. Charles Wednesday.

ST. CHARLES, IL — A 36-year-old man faces child endangerment and weapons charges for accidentally firing a handgun while walking in St. Charles Wednesday afternoon.
Kyle Burnett, of Aurora, has been charged with armed habitual criminal, unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, aggravated unlawful use of a weapn and endangering the life or health of child in connection with the incident.
Police received a report regarding shots that had been fired in the 1500 block of East Main Street at about 12:50 p.m. Wednesday, according to a news release. The caller said a male and two females — one who was holding a small child — were walking in an area between the Super 8 hotel and an adjacent strip mall.

Police said witnesses told them the man appeared to accidentally fire the gun. Officers arrived at the scene and saw the gun in the man's pocket. No one was hit by a bullet when the gun was fired, and no one was injured.
Burnett was expected to appear for a pre-trial detention hearing on Thursday.
