5 Injured In Sunday Crash During 'Whiteout Conditions'
Three were critically injured in the collision that happened on Route 176 in rural McHenry County.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — Three people were critically injured and two more sustained less-serious injures in a two-vehicle crash Sunday morning in McHenry County.
The Marengo Fire & Rescue Districts and the Union Fire Protection District responded to the collision on Route 176 near North Union Road at about 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, according to a news release. While they were headed to the scene, they learned a bystander was performing CPR on an individual who was injured in the crash.
Ambulances responded to transport five patients to the hospital, including three in critical condition, one in serious condition and one with minor injuries, according to authorities. A medical helicopter was requested but was unable to respond due to white-out conditions from a snowstorm at the time of the crash.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
