AJ Freund's Estate Attorney Brings Up Possible Lawsuit: Report
A McHenry Co. Judge appointed the State Bank of Geneva Monday to serve as administrator of the boy's estate, according to Chicago Tribune.
MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — A wrongful death lawsuit is possible in the ongoing case centered on the death of Crystal Lake 5-year-old Andrew "AJ" Freund, according to the boy's estate attorney, the Chicago Tribune reported. A McHenry County Judge has appointed the State Bank of Geneva to serve as administrator of the boy's estate, according to the news report. The Chicago Tribune added that AJ's 18-year-old brother recently asked that the bank be appointed as an independent administrator when he filed a petition to open the probate case.
According to the news report, Ted Meyers, a St. Charles attorney representing the bank on behalf of AJ's heirs — including his two younger siblings — said the case lets the estate subpoena documents related to the DCFS' involvement in AJ's case. The attorney added he hopes changes are made to state law that involves parental rights in cases of child neglect and abuse. >> More via the Chicago Tribune
