Authorities Working To ID Person Killed In Fiery Crash: Coroner

The McHenry County Coroner's Office has been working to identify the person killed in the fiery crash Monday afternoon.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — One person killed in a fiery crash Monday near Woodstock has not yet been identified.

The McHenry County Sheriff's Office was called to investigate the collision in the 8200 block of Mason Hill Road at about 4:50 p.m. on Monday. Authorities learned the car had crashed into a tree and started on fire.

While firefighters were working to put out the blaze they found one person, whose identity has not yet been released, dead inside the vehicle.

Due to the nature of the crash, the McHenry County Coroner's Office has not been able to positively identify the person, the coroner's office said Wednesday.

An autopsy was performed on Tuesday and toxicology is currently pending. Olivia Zednick, chief deputy coroner, said the McHenry County Coroner's Office will attempt to use dental records to help ID the person killed in the crash.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
