Carl Rauchenberger, 85, Architect

A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013, at the Catlow Theatre, 116 W. Main Street, Barrington.

Carl Rauchenberger, 85, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013 in Woodstock.

He was born Aug. 5, 1928, in Chicago to Gala and Carl Rauchenberger.

Carl was the original architect for Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington. He spent much of his career designing hospital and university buildings.

At his core Carl was an artist. He found great satisfaction in developing and improving his incredible talents. His early artistic endeavors were created in watercolor. As technology evolved Carl worked exclusively in digital formats. 

Carl was the beloved husband of the late Merilyn Rauchenberger, loving father of Carla (Arlin) Housh of Lakewood, Kurt (Jude) Rauchenberger ofWesterly,R.I.,Derek (Janet) Rauchenberger of Lakewood, Craig Rauchenberger of Huntley, and Lisa Rauchenberger of Toronto, Ontario, dear grandfather of Jason (Stephanie) Housh, Carlyn and Melissa Housh, and Max and Annalise Rauchenberger, and great-grandfather of Sydney Housh. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. 

A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013, at the Catlow Theatre, 116 W. Main Street, Barrington. Join the family in music, art and sharing of happy memories. Interment will be private. 

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the Art 
Institute of Chicago, 111 South Michigan Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60603-6404.
