Community Continues to Show Support for Slain Police Officer
A memorial outside the Fox Lake Police Department has steadily grown as police reveal they may have hit upon a major break in the case.
Businesses have brought food, citizens have left flowers, and a the children and teachers from a local daycare came with a sign and a flag to honor slain police Lt. Charles Joseph Gliniewicz.
Carrie Snyder from Kidsuccess said she and her fellow teachers brought the daycare’s children to the police station “just to show our support and that we appreciate all they’re doing.”
The daycare had been on lockdown for the last two days and was just brought off Thursday.

Gliniewicz, 52, was killed shortly after he started his shift Tuesday morning. The leader of a task force investigating the killing revealed that police may have hit upon a significant break in the case. George Filenko, the commander of the Lake County Major Crimes Task Force, said a resident came forward with a possible video of the cop killers.
