Convicted Sex Offender From Elgin Sentenced In 2009 Case

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — A former Elgin resident has been sentenced to 13 1/2 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections less than two months after being found guilty of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and aggravated criminal sexual abuse, Patrick Kenneally, McHenry County State’s Attorney, said Monday. In a release sent to Patch, Kenneally said William Dugar, Jr., 29, was sentenced by the Honorable Judge Willbrandt and will also have to register as a lifetime sex offender once he's released from prison.
Dugar was found guilty following a bench trial on June 6 for sexually assaulting a minor in 2009.

Under the Truth in Sentencing Guidelines, Dugar will have to serve 85 percent of the sentence for predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, according to the state's attorney's office.
The sex assault case was investigated by the Crystal Lake Police Department, and prosecuted by members of the state's attorney's office.
