Coroner IDs 1 Killed In UTV Crash; ID Not Yet Released For 2nd Man

The collision happened Saturday night near Hebron.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — The McHenry County Coroner's Office has identified one of the men killed in a UTV collision over the weekend near Hebron. Meanwhile, another man killed — the driver of the UTV — is not being identified at this time as "further testing" is being conducted.

The crash happened at about 10:50 p.m. Saturday when a UTV driven by a 40-year-old Harvard man was headed east on Thayer Road near Hebron at a high rate of speed and went off the road before severing a utility pole and knocking down power lines, according to a news release from the McHenry County Sheriff's Office.

The UTV rolled over several times, and the driver was ejected. The driver and a passenger on the UTV, a 36-year-old Harvard man, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The passenger has been identified as Bryan Dahm, 36, of Woodstock, according to a news release from the coroner's office. Meanwhile, the drivers' identity is pending further testing and is not being released at this time, according to a news release from the McHenry County Coroner's Office.

Preliminary findings showed thermal injuries with pending toxicology as the cause of death, according to the coroner's office.

A third passenger, a 35-year-old man from San Carlos, California, sustained minor injuries and declined medical attention, police said.

Police say alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash, and the collision remains under investigation by McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Major Crash Investigation Unit and McHenry County Coroner’s Office.
