Coroner IDs Man, 33, Killed In Woodstock Collision
The crash also left three juveniles with life-threatening injuries.
MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — The McHenry County Coroner's Office has identified a 33-year-old Elgin man killed in a three-vehicle crash in Woodstock Sunday.
Abuzar Zaidi was killed in the collision that also left three juveniles and another driver critically injured.
On Wednesday, the McHenry County Sheriff's Office released more information regarding the crash, which was reported at about 3:15 p.m. Sunday. A preliminary investigation into the collision shows a 2018 Mercedes-Benz was headed east on Route 14 when it attempted to pass a vehicle pulling a trailer in a no-passing zone and collided head-on with a 2017 Toyota 4 Runner, according to a news release from the McHenry County Sheriff's Office.

Zaidi, the driver of the Mercedes, was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. A passenger in his car, a 6-year-old boy, was airlifted to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the 4 Runner, a 43-year-old man from Cross Plains, Wisconsin, was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Two juveniles passengers in the sports utility vehicle, an 11-year-old girl and a 13-year-old man, were both taken to local hospitals and then airlifted to a different hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries, police said.

Another passenger in the SUV, a 43-year-old woman from Cross Plains, Wisconsin, was taken to a hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening, according to a news release.
Police say the Mercedes is believed to have been in a crash on Route 14 near Kishwaukee Valley Road prior to the crash.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
