Coroner IDs Man Killed In Electric Scooter Crash

The Lake County Coroner's Office has identified the man killed in the collision as Bruce Neiswanger, of McHenry.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — A 53-year-old man is dead after he crashed an electric scooter over the weekend in McHenry County.

The Lake County Coroner’s Office has identified the man killed in the collision as Bruce Neiswanger, of McHenry, coroner’s office officials said Tuesday.

The collision happened at about 10 a.m. Saturday in the 5000 block of South Wildwood Drive in unincorporated McHenry County, according to the coroner’s office news release.

When authorities arrived, they found an unconscious and unresponsive man who crashed while driving an electric scooter. Bystanders performed CPR on the man, who was transported to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital.

Neiswanger was pronounced dead in the intensive care unit on Sunday, according to the coroner’s office.

Preliminary results from an autopsy show Neiswanger died from blunt force injuries as a result of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.
