Coroner IDs Man Killed Following Standoff With Police: Authorities
The man was fatally shot following a standoff at his home in the 300 block of South Briarwood Road near Crystal Lake.
MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — The McHenry County Coroner's Office has identified the 46-year-old man killed by a deputy following a standoff near Crystal Lake.
Darrick Lawrence was killed in the shooting in the 300 block of South Briarwood Road in unincorporated Crystal Lake, McHenry County Coroner Michael Rein said in a news release. Rein's office was called to investigate the shooting death at about 5:30 a.m. Friday.
An autopsy is scheduled for later on Friday.

Police were first called to investigate a domestic dispute at the home at about 4:20 p.m. When deputies arrived, they learned a man had barricaded himself inside his home, police said.
The sheriff's office's SWAT team and Hostage Negotiation team responded, but were unable to get the armed person safely out of the home. The man was shot and pronounced dead at the scene.

The officer-involved shooting will now be investigated by the Major Investigation Team and the McHenry County State's Attorney's Office.
