Crystal Lake Park District Programs Return In Tier 2
Illinois Gov. J. B. Pritzker on Monday announced Region 9 Crystal Lake had been moved to a coronavirus tier with fewer restrictions.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — Now that Illinois's Coronavirus Region 9, which includes Crystal Lake, has now been moved forward to Tier 2, a number of in-person and hybrid events are again offered by the Crystal Lake Park District.
The park district said it is still working to gather more information about Tier 2 and what it allows. As more information becomes available, updates will be posted on the park district webpage and on social media.
Still, a number of events listed in its winter/spring brochure will move forward as listed as long as face covering and social distancing mandates are followed.

In the new tier, up to 10 people will be permitted to attend in-person yoga classes. Similarly, dance, baton and theater will allow for in-person attendance with face coverings worn and social distancing measures followed.
Also moving forward with in-person classes are Hot Shots Sports, karate classes and senior adult classes. The park district said the senior center is projected to open on March 1.

Change is also coming to the Racket Club, which no longer requires that face masks be worn on the court as long as social distance is maintained. In Tier 2, doubles play is also allowed to resume. A list of event modifications is posted at the Racket Club's front desk.
The Crystal Lake Nature Center is also projected to resume its usual hours of operation on Jan. 26, and NART drop-in classes will resume on Jan. 30.
Also set to reopen is the Colonel Palmer House, which will resume operations on Jan. 28.
A number of classes, however, are expected to remain virtual for the time being. According to the park district, online yoga will continue to be offered, and iCook and Art Attack classes will be held via Zoom. All other art classes will be held in person.
Meanwhile, the "Snow What! Let's Putt Family Mini Golf" event has been postponed to Feb. 27 due to icy conditions on the miniature golf course. Registration for the event is still open.
A full list of the park district's offerings is available in its Winter-Spring Digital Guide
Would-be attendees are encouraged to register for classes and programs that have already started, according to the digital guide. Some classes will be available at a pro-rated price.
