Crystal Lake Police To Focus On Car Seat Safety, Step Up Patrols
The Crystal Lake Police Department will participate in child passenger safety week on Sept. 20 through Sept. 30.
CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — The Crystal Lake Police Department will participate in child passenger safety week with stepped up patrols starting on Sept. 20 and continuing through Sept. 30.
The police department partners with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration as part of the detail, which will include stepped up enforcement of child passenger safety laws, according to a news release from the police department. While the additional enforcement will be focused on child passenger safety, "the Crystal Lake Police Department will also be on the lookout for contributing factors to traffic crashes in order to make the roadways safer for everyone," police said.
Police are encouraging parents to check to make sure their child is in the right car seat for their age and size and to make sure the car seats are installed correctly, according to the news release. Parents should also make sure their kids are properly buckled in before they drive.

Parents can also have their car seats checked by the police department to ensure the seats are properly installed.
The focus of Child Passenger Safety Week is to raise awareness and encourage all parents and caregivers to make sure their children are riding in the right seat, according to the news release.
