Crystal Lake Man Turns Himself Into Police After Hospital Release: PD
Connor Kirkpatrick faces multiple charges after police said he crashed his SUV into a Crystal Lake home in July and was seriously injured.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — A 27-year-old Crystal Lake man who crashed his SUV into a local home this summer faces and who faced criminal charges out of McHenry County, turned himself in to police on Tuesday after he was released from the hospital.
Connor Kirkpatrick faces felony aggravated reckless driving charges along with criminal damage to property of more than $100,000 and reckless conduct in connection with a July 27 incident in Crystal Lake, police said.
Kirkpatrick remained hospitalized with significant injuries after police said that he drove his SUV into a home in the 100 block of Heather Drive in Crystal Lake at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. Police said that they have issued a warrant for Kirkpatrick’s arrest once he is able to be released from the hospital.

On Tuesday, police said that Kirkpatrick turned himself into police and will appear in court on Nov. 1 where he will face the charges. A police spokesman told Patch on Tuesday he has not confirmed when Kirkpatrick was released from the hospital.
On July 27, police said Kirkpatrick's sport utility vehicle crashed into a detached garage of the Heather Drive house. The SUV was heading east on Ballard Road when it went through the intersection at Briarwood Drive and, for unknown reasons, left the roadway and hit the home.

Kirkpatrick was extricated by Crystal Lake Fire/Rescue and flown to Condell Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Angelo Pleotis, 64, who lived at the residence, became trapped inside and had to be freed from the wreckage. Pleotis was in the shower when the vehicle hit his house. He was flown to Advocate Condell Medical Center, according to the Lake/McHenry Scanner.
Pleotis suffered collapsed lungs, broken ribs, head trauma, lacerations, and two spinal fracture dislocations, which caused paralysis. The man's family said that he was showering at the time of the crash and may never walk again due to the severity of his injuries.
