Discarded Smoking Materials Cause House Fire In Johnsburg: MTFPD
A ranch home in the 2200 block of Coolidge Avenue caught fire Monday morning, according to a release from fire officials.
MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — Smoking materials that were thrown away caused a fire to break out Tuesday morning at a home in the 2200 block of Coolidge Avenue in Johnsburg, according to a release from the McHenry Township Fire Protection District (MTFPD). Fire crews were called to a structure fire at that address at 2:13 a.m., where they found a ranch house with light smoke coming from the eaves near the home's front door, the news release said. According to the MTFDP, crews determined the fire was out after investigating, and no flames or smoke got inside the house.
According to the release, those inside the home were alerted to the fire by smoke detectors that went off while they were asleep. No residents, firefighters or others were injured, according to MTFPD.
Members of the McHenry County Sheriff's Department also responded to the scene, while crews from Spring Grove Fire Department and Fox Lake Fire Department were called but returned to the departments once it was determined the fire wasn't active, the release said.
