Dog Rescued From Woodstock House Fire While Another Is Missing

According to the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District, firefighters rescued an unconscious dog​ from the burning home, and revived it.

WOODSTOCK, IL — The Woodstock Fire/Rescue District said one of two dogs remain missing after a Saturday house fire in Woodstock. According to a news release from the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District, crews were called at 7:22 p.m. to a fire in the 100 block of North Street where firefighters arrived and reported a fire in the basement of the home. According to fire officials, two people were home at the time of the fire and called 911.

Firefighters pulled an unconscious dog from the burning home, and were able to revive the animal before he went back to the homeowners. However, fire officials said a second dog is still listed as unaccounted for.

Several area fire crews and first responders helped Woodstock firefighters Saturday night. No residents or fire crews were hurt from the fire, according to the news release.

While the fire remains under investigation, it doesn't appear to be suspicious, according to fire officials, who added that there is heavy damage from fire, smoke and water to the 1.5-story home. A damage estimate isn't available, according to the news release.
