Firefighter And Resident Hurt In Crystal Lake Garage Fire: Chief

The cause of the garage fire is under investigation, officials reported.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — A firefighter and a resident were injured Monday during a fire in the 1300 block of Gardina Vista Street, the Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department reported in a release. The department responded to a report of a structure fire at 11:15 p.m. Monday at the above address, and crews arrived to find a garage fully engulfed in flames, the release said. Residents were reported to be out of the home when crews arrived.

Crews from nearby communities were called to help, and the fire was quickly put out with extensive damage to the structure, according to the release. The estimated damage is $50,000, the department added.

According to the release, both the firefighter and resident were taken for medical evaluation due to minor injuries from the incident.
