Former McHenry Man Sentenced To Prison For Residential Burglary
The McHenry County State's Attorney's office reported that due to being a convicted felon, the crime was punishable by 6 to 30 years.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — McHenry County State’s Attorney Patrick Kenneally announced in a news release from the McHenry County State's Attorney's office that John A. Neveitt, 31, formerly from McHenry, was sentenced Wednesday to six years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. Neveitt was sentenced by McHenry County Judge Wilbrandt following a negotiated guilty plea to felony residential burglary, according to the state's attorney's office. While the offense is usually classified as a class 1 felony, carrying a sentencing range of four to fifteen years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, the state's attorney's office reported that due to being a previously convicted felon, Neveitt was sentenced to a class X felony, punishable by six to thirty years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
Neveitt's sentence stems from a March 15, 2019 incident, during which he went inside a home in the 4700 block of Howard Street in McHenry, with the intention to burglarize the home, according to the state's attorney's office.
Neveitt will serve a two-year period of mandatory supervised release upon completion of his sentence, according to the news release.
