Here's When Crystal Lake Barnes & Noble Will Close

A store spokesperson announced the closing date on Facebook Monday.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — Crystal Lake Barnes & Noble located at 5380 Northwest Highway will close next month, according to a spokesperson. In a Monday post on the Barnes & Noble (Crystal Lake, IL) Facebook page, the store notified followers of the upcoming closing, and replied "August 10th" after a Facebook user asked when the last day of business would be.

In January, the Crystal Lake City Council approved a liquor license for Binny's Beverage Depot, the business opening in Barnes & Noble's place. The new Binny's store required a Class 25 license, which allows the retail sale of an alcoholic liquor, for consumption, on the premises as well as the retail sale of alcoholic liquor in the original package between specified hours. In addition to package sales, Binny's will be hosting events at their Crystal Lake location, which will allow visitors to consume alcohol sold at the store while there, according to a memo to Crystal Lake's city council.

Several comments by community members under the bookseller's Facebook post included hopes that a new Barnes & Noble location would open in Crystal Lake. As of right now, there next closest spot would be West Dundee's location.
