Inaugural Beer Fest At Forest Preserve Features Local Craft Brews

LIBERTYVILLE, IL — The Lake County Forest Preserve District will be hosting an inaugural beer festival at Independence Grove in Libertyville this Friday.

The Brews & Views festival will run from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the beer garden at Independence Grove, 16400 W. Buckley Road, Libertyville, according to a news release from the Lake County Forest Preserve District.

The forest preserve district opened its beer garden at Independence Grove in 2021, giving visitors to the popular Independence Grove a place to go to enjoy craft beers, ciders and other beverages, according to forest preserve district officials.

"Visitors enjoy the beverage selection, which includes non-alcoholic drinks, and the tranquil ambiance of the preserve surrounding a 129-acre lake," forest preserve district officials told Patch Wednesday.

The forest preserve district has been focused own serving up brews from local businesses, which will also be a focus of this year's new fest.

"The event will give visitors the opportunity to sample beverages and learn while speaking with staff from nine local breweries, potentially increasing their customer base," according to forest preserve district officials.

Participants can buy a $20 punch card and try 10 different brews — all served in a 3.5-ounce glass — and an appetizer, according to a news release.

Local breweries featured at the fest include 9th Hour Brewing Co., Glunz Family Winery, Harbor Brewing Co., Liquid Love Brewing Co., Mickey Finn's Brewing, Phase Three Brewing Co., Ravinia Brewing, Roaring Table Brewing and Tighthead Brewing Co.

Non-alcoholic options and food will be available for purchase.
