Last month, the Lakeside Legacy Foundation staff and board of directors hosted a Volunteer Appreciation Party to recognize the efforts of the volunteers behind Lakeside Fest.

“Over the past nine months as Lakeside’s new executive director, I’ve personally witnessed so many community members give to the Dole and Lakeside Legacy Arts Park," said Siobhan Cottone.

"Lakeside Fest is led by an extraordinary committee of long-time dedicated volunteers. This year, in the 11th hour, Lakeside Fest needed a volunteer organization to organize and staff the beverage tent. The Crystal Lake Young Professionals of the Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce stood up, and in only a few weeks, staffed over 300 volunteer slots.”

The one way Lakeside shows its appreciate is offering a volunteer recognition.

During the Lakeside Fest Appreciation party, the Crystal Lake Young Professionals surprised the foundation, and presented a $2,500 donation to Lakeside Legacy Foundation. They also recommitted to helping at the 2014 Lakeside Festival.

“This generous financial contribution, in addition to the gift of their time and leadership, is a huge testament to the type of community organization the Young Professionals lead. Lakeside is grateful for their partnership.” Cottone said.

The August 1st Volunteer Appreciation Party included food from Lakeside Fest vendors and music. It is important for Lakeside to patronize local businesses that support Lakeside.

This one signature fundraising event ensures that the Dole Mansion remains a ‘gem’ of McHenry County for generations to come, while also being an innovative community art center for all to enjoy!

Lakeside not only appreciates its volunteers, but all those who attend Lakeside Fest, and who come out and enjoy the local food and entertainment year after year.
