Liquidation Sales Could Get Underway At Joann's In McHenry County
The fabrics retailer announced last week it will close more than half its locations nationwide.

ALGONQUIN, IL —Closeout sales at soon-to-be-shuttered Joann Fabrics and Crafts stores were reportedly expected to begin this past weekend, according to news reports.
The fabric and craft retailer made the shocking announcement last week that it will be closing 500 stores nationwide after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy for a second time this past year. Among stores expected to close are two in McHenry County including the Joann at 2391 County Line Road in Algonquin and another at 3310 Shoppers Drive in McHenry.

The Cleveland, OH-based company cited rising costs and dwindling demand for its financial difficulties, as more sewists, quilters, knitters and other craft enthusiasts are buying supplies online.
Joann did not divulge when it would start closing stores. Liquidation stores are likely to last for several months.
