Man, 81, Injured In Rollover Crash In McHenry County
Firefighters had to extricate the man after he became trapped in the vehicle following the collision near Hebron on Sunday.
An 81-year-old man was hospitalized after firefighters had to extricate him from his vehicle following a two-vehicle rollover crash near Hebron on Sunday.
The Hebron-Alden-Greenwood Fire Protection District and McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded around 10:30 a.m. Sunday to the intersection of Route 47 and O’Brien Road in unincorporated Hebron for a vehicle crash with injuries.

McHenry County Sheriff Spokesman Tim Creighton said an investigation showed that a black 2012 Chevrolet Suburban was traveling southbound on Route 47.
Meanwhile, a blue 2012 Chevrolet Spark, driven by an 81-year-old Rockford man, was traveling westbound on O’Brien Road.

Creighton said that the 81-year-old man failed to yield and proceeded westbound through the intersection.
That caused the Chevrolet Suburban, driven by a 71-year-old man from Wisconsin, to hit the Chevrolet Spark.
The Chevrolet Spark rolled over onto its passenger side and the Chevrolet Suburban came to a rest in the field to the east.
The driver of the Chevrolet Spark had to be extricated from his vehicle and was transported to Mercy Harvard Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Creighton said.
The driver of the Chevrolet Suburban and his 75-year-old female passenger were both treated and released at the scene.
Creighton said that the driver of the Chevrolet Spark was issued a citation for failure to yield at intersection. Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be a factor in the crash.
