Man Critically Injured After Home Explodes Near Cary

The incident happened in the 6700 block of Pheasant Trail in unincorporated Cary Sunday morning.

CARY, IL — A man was seriously injured when a home exploded on Pheasant Trail near Cary Sunday afternoon.

The Cary Fire Protection District was called to the 6700 block of Pheasant Trail in unincorporated Cary at about 1:30 p.m. and found the doors and windows had been blown off the front and rear of the home, with smoke showing from multiple portions of the home, according to the fire protection district.

A man was found on the ground outside the home, suffering from significant burn injuries he sustained during the explosion, authorities said. He was taken to Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington in critical condition.

Fire crews brought the blaze under control at about 2:15 p.m. The home and its contents have been considered a total loss.

The cause of the explosion and fire remains under investigation.
