Man Sentenced In Richmond Plant Theft Of Tractor, Other Items

Daniel Seaberg was sentenced to 7 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections as a Class X offender based on previous criminal history.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — McHenry County State’s Attorney Patrick Kenneally said Daniel P. Seaberg, 34, of Cartersville was found guilty on Dec. 23 of felony theft (0ver $10,000) following a negotiated plea before McHenry County Judge Michael Coppedge, according to a news release from the state's attorney's office. Seaberg was sentenced to seven years in the Illinois Department of Corrections as a Class X offender based on previous criminal history, the state's attorney's office said.

On Feb. 9, 2018, members of the McHenry County Sheriff’s Department began investigating a theft involving a truck, trailer, and skid steer from a paving company in Richmond, according to the news release. Deputies found the skid steer in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and based on GPS data from the skid steer, detectives were able to get surveillance footage from a gas station, ultimately leading to the identification of Seaberg as one of the people who stole the truck, trailer and skid steer, according to the state's attorney's office.

This case was investigated by members of the McHenry County Sheriff’s Department, and was prosecuted by Robert Ladd of the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office, the news release said.
