Authorities said the Marengo man's girlfriend claims he pinned her to the ground, grabbed her around her neck and hit her in the face.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — McHenry County State's Attorney Patrick Kenneally announced Wednesday that Patrick C. Prendergast, 27, from Marengo was found guilty of felony domestic battery (subsequent offense) and sentenced to four years in the Illinois Department of Corrections after a plea negotiation with McHenry County Judge Michael Coppedge, according to a news release from the McHenry County State's Attorney's office.
The state's attorneys office said that on Jan. 17, Marengo Police Department officers were called to the home of Brittney Pietraross, who left her home after being attacked by her boyfriend, Prendergast.
Pietrarosso told authorities that Prendergast tackled her, pinned her to the ground, grabbed her around her neck, which caused her to momentarily black out, and hit her in the face, according to the news release.
