McHenry Co. Man Sentenced In DUI Crash That Killed His Wife

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — A 44-year-old Marengo man has been sentenced to prison for a drunken driving crash that caused the death of his wife in September 2021.

A McHenry County judge sentenced Sergio Esquivel to five years in prison during a hearing on Feb. 26, according to the news release from the state's attorney's office. The passenger of the Dodge, Mabel Esquivel, 44, of Marengo, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

Esquivel has been ordered to serve 85 percent of his sentence.
