FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Patrick D. Kenneally, McHenry County State’s Attorney, announces that on February 2, 2022, James R. Henson, 54, of McHenry, Illinois, was sentenced to six (6) years in the Illinois Department of Corrections by the Honorable Judge Michael Coppedge. James Henson plead guilty to Theft $500.00 - $10,000.00, a Class 3 Felony. As a condition of his sentence, Mr. Henson was also ordered to pay $8,500.00 in restitution to the victim in this case.

On October 20, 2018, officers of the McHenry Police Department responded to a report of a theft of a 1974 Stingray Corvette. On October 30, 2018, McHenry police officers located a burned vehicle matching the VIN number of the stolen Corvette on land frequented by Mr. Henson. Subsequently, officers located the keys of the burned Corvette at a campsite associated with Mr. Henson. Over the course of the investigation, the McHenry Police Department was able to determine that James Henson had committed the theft of the vehicle.
This case was investigated by members of the McHenry Police Department. This case was prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorney Ashur Y. Youash.
