McHenry Man Sentenced In Kidnapping Case

The 44-year-old man will serve eight years in prison for kidnapping his ex-girlfriend in 2024.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — A 44-year-old McHenry man has been sentenced to eight years in prison on a kidnapping charge.

Douglas Enders pleaded guilty to the kidnapping of his ex-girlfriend, admitting he beat her and then held her in his garage against her will on March 16, 2024, according to a news release from the McHenry County State's Attorney's Office.

The duo later walked to a gas station where the ex-girlfriend was able to get help from a cashier who then called 911, authorities said. Enders fled the gas station and was later taken into custody by the McHenry County Sheriff's Office.

A kidnapping charges has a penalty of two to seven years but due to Enders' extensive criminal history, prosecutors were able to negotiate an eight-year term on the charge, according to the news release.
