Motorcyclist Dies 2 Days After McHenry-Area Crash

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — A 42-year-old McHenry man has died following a motorcycle collision near McHenry

Steven Mapson, 42, of McHenry, died at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville on Sunday two days after the crash in unincorporated McHenry, according to a news release from the McHenry County Coroner's Office.

Mapson's motorcycle, along with a second motorcycle driven by a 39-year-old Wonder Lake man, were found in a ditch at about 6:25 p.m. in the area of Chapel Hill Road south of Route 120.

Both men had been ejected from their motorcycles and taken to Northwestern Medicine Hospital in McHenry. The 42-year-old man was later taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center for further treatment, where he was pronounced dead Sunday morning, police said.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
