New Discount Retailer Opens In Crystal Lake

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — Discount retailer Sierra has opened its first location in McHenry County.

Sierra, a discount retailer that sells outdoor gear and sporting clothes, is planning its grand opening for Oct. 5, according to city officials. The 20,000-square foot store, which will open at 5794 Northwest Highway in Crystal Lake, will be the first Sierra location in McHenry County.

The space was previously occupied by Bed Bath and Beyond and was divided in half, said Heather Maieritsch, economic development manager for the city of Crystal Lake.
"We are excited to welcome the first Sierra in McHenry County and think it will be a great retail addition for our market," Maieritsch said.

Currently, the closest Sierra stores are located in Kildeer and Schaumburg.
