Fast-Casual Restaurant In Crystal Lake Closes
The only Freddy's in McHenry County closed last week, leaving 13 locations in Illinois and none in the Chicago area.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers in Crystal Lake has permanently closed.
The fast-casual restaurant known for its steak burgers and custard first opened in 2021 at 5500 Northwest Highway. After four years in Crystal Lake, the local Freddy's joined a growing number of Chicago-area locations that have closed.
Heather Maieritsch, economic development manager for the city of Crystal Lake, said the Freddy’s in Crystal Lake closed last week.

So far this year, Freddy's locations in Lake Zurich, Romeoville, Glendale Heights Orland Park and Frankfort have closed. Thirteen locations remain in Illinois, but none of the Freddy's that are still open are in the Chicago area.
