One Person Sustains Minor Burns During Crystal Lake House Fire: FD
Four people and two dogs were able to escape the home on Fair Oaks Road, which didn't appear to have working smoke detectors officials said.
CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — One person was taken to the hospital with minor injuries on Monday when a Crystal Lake home caught fire, causing about $45,000 in damage, fire officials said.
Fire officials said the blaze was reported just before 5 p.m. on Monday at 5007 Fair Oaks Rd. Firefighters arrived at the home to find smoke coming from the eaves on the roof and a fire in one of the bedrooms in the single-story home, officials said.
The four occupants of the home and their two dogs were able to escape without major injury. Firefighters had the fire under control by 5:19 p.m.

The person who was taken to the hospital sustained burns to their fingers while closing a door to the bedrooms while others were escaping from the home, fire officials said. No firefighters were injured.
The home sustained heat and smoke damage and was deemed uninhabitable until repairs can be made. Investigators said that the home did not appear to have working smoke detectors, but the cause of the fire remains undetermined at this time.

Investigators estimated the damage to the home and its contents to be about $45,000.
