CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — With Valentine's Day right around the corner, popular restaurants that have a great ambiance and delicious dishes and drinks will be booking up for the holiday.

We recently reached out to readers to share their go-to spots in the area for a romantic night out.

1776 Restaurant, at 397 W. Virginia Street in Crystal Lake, received the most positive reviews from readers.

Readers raved about 1776's "cocktail bar, talented kitchen, skilled and attentive servers" as well as its "wine and spirit collection that can fulfill the most demanding request."

The restaurant has a beautiful ambiance, delicious food and an entirety gluten-free menu," another reader noted in our hMost Romantic Restaurants survey.

Another reader complimented the "great ambiance, wonderful plates to share, and phenomenal cocktails."

Da Buffone Italian, 111 N. Main Street in Crystal Lake, also topped readers' lists as their most favorite romantic restaurant in the area. One reader referred to the resttaurant as "small, cozy, romantic and personal."

Runners up in our survey include: Jimmy's Charhouse, Winestock in Woodstock and D&J Bistro in Lake Zurich.
