State Trooper, 2 Others Injured In 5-Car Crash

SOUTH BARRINGTON, IL — An Illinois State Police trooper and two others were injured in a five-vehicle crash at Route 72 and Route 59 in South Barrington Saturday morning, authorities said.

The collision happened at about 9:40 a.m., according to a news release from the East Dundee Fire Protection District. The state trooper was extricated from one of the vehicle and transported to Saint Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates with critical injuries.

Two other people were taken to Sherman Hospital in Elgin with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
