Timeline of Slain Officer's Fatal Encounter
The chief of the major crimes task force investigating the murder of a police lieutenant released a timeline of his final morning.
This is a timeline of the fatal encounter between Fox Lake police Lt. Charles Joseph Gliniewicz and three unidentified men sought for his murder, as provided by Lake County Major Crimes Task Force Cmdr. George Filenko:
- 7:52 a.m. Gliniewicz calls into dispatchers and reports that he is going to confront three men he determined to be “suspicious.”
- 7:55 a.m. Gliniewicz calls in for a second unit to assist him and reports that the three men are running from him.
- 8:01 a.m. Two officers arrive on the scene.
- 8:09 a.m. The officers find Gliniewicz’s body.
