CARY, IL — One person was injured and a townhome complex in Cary was evacuated after a car crashed into the building Monday afternoon, causing a gas leak.
The Cary Fire Protection District was called to the complex in the 1200 block of West Lake Drive at about 5 p.m. Monday. When emergency personnel arrived, they found a sedan that had left the road and crashed into the side of the home.
During the collision, the sedan "sheared off the natural gas meter servicing the residence," according to a news release from the fire protection district. The sedan came to rest directly on top of the sheared-off gas meter, authorities said.
