Watch Out For Children And Buses Headed Back To School
Remember these back to school safety tips from the City of Crystal Lake and the National Safety Council.
CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — August has arrived, and this means a new school year is upon us. In an effort to make the beginning of the school year a safe one, the City of Crystal Lake reminds motorists to watch for school buses and children.
In the August 2019 letter, the City also reminds everyone to be aware of school speed zones and crosswalks.

- Share the road with school buses.
- Do not block crosswalks.
- Yield to pedestrians in crosswalks.
- Be extra cautious in school zones.
- Never pass a vehicle stopped for pedestrians.
- Never pass a bus loading or unloading children.
- Stop far enough behind buses to allow children to safely enter and exit the vehicle.
