What Is That Large Plume Of Smoke In Crystal Lake?
The smoke plume spotted by many near Route 175 and Route 14 is from Crystal Lake Fire Department's live fire training.
CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — Those driving through Crystal Lake and residing here may be wondering what the large plume of smoke is that many spotted in the area of Route 176 and 14 Thursday.
Many should be happy to hear there is no need for concern as the smoke is coming from the Crystal Lake Fire Department's live fire training exercises, according to city officials. The training is taking place at the former Flowerwood site at 7625 Route 14.
The training will be underway between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Thursday, according to the city of Crystal Lake Facebook page.
