Woman, 41, Hit By Truck, Killed In Island Lake

ISLAND LAKE, IL — A 41-year-old woman is dead after being hit by a truck in Island Lake.

The Lake County Coroner's Office has identified the woman as Kristen Koehnke of Island Lake. Preliminary results from an autopsy show Koehnke died from blunt force injuries following the Friday night collision on Route 176 east of Waters Edge Drive.

The crash happened at about 9:15 p.m. when a 2018 Chevrolet Colorado, driven by a 21-year-old Glenview woman, was headed east on Route 176 and Koehnke, according to a news release.

Koehnke was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the coroner's office. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
