Darien Candidate: Wife Harassed At Door
Someone threw a mailer in her face, he said. The police were not called.

DARIEN, IL – A Center Cass School District 86 board member, who is seeking re-election, said last week his wife was harassed at the door of their Darien house.
On Friday, member Brian Liedtke said on Facebook that a resident came to his front door for a mailer that the person received. The resident threw the mailer in his wife's face, Liedtke said.
"There is zero excuse for that type of behavior," Liedtke said.

Liedtke said he did not call Darien police on the person for trespassing and harassment because he wished no ill will. But he said his house was his family's private property, where they live and deserve to feel safe.
"Elected officials, while you may not agree with them, are still neighbors and community members with families and lives and live among us," Liedtke said on the "Darien area Parents" Facebook page. "Reasonable minds can and should be able to come to a mutual understanding."

In the April 1 election, Liedtke is facing candidates Steven Dlugo, Adam Sage, Darren Spiegel and Ashley Harris. Four seats are up. Liedtke is the only incumbent running.
Liedtke was an outspoken advocate for increasing Center Cass' property taxes in the November 2022 referendum.
With nearly 6,000 voting, the measure prevailed by 29 votes.
