Darien Cop Spots Car Break-In Suspect, Who Flees: Police

DARIEN, IL – An officer patrolling near a Darien hotel saw a masked person in dark clothing next to a car with a broken window early last Thursday morning, local police said.

It was about 5 a.m. at the Extended Stay America hotel, 2345 Sokol Court.

After seeing the officer, the suspect got into the passenger side of another car, police said. The driver jumped a curb and fled.

Officers then said they found more cars with shattered windows. In one case, a glove box was broken and the seats were taken apart, police said.

Domestic battery

  • An 18-year-old Darien man who lives in the 7500 block of Farmingdale Drive was arrested Oct. 1 at his home on two counts of domestic battery. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

Retail theft

  • An employee watched a person steal two 18-packs of Modelo beer about 3 p.m. at Speedway, 10250 Lemont Road. The beer was valued at $55.
