Darien To Get Latin American Restaurant
A local couple plans to open the eatery next week. They say their cuisine embraces flavors from a number of countries.
DARIEN, IL – A Darien couple is planning to open a restaurant next week in Brookhaven Plaza.
According to its Google listing, La Panza Latin American Grill is set to open Monday at 7516 S. Cass Ave., Suite 25B. The owners are Galo Macias and Tatiana Lopez.
The restaurant is opening where Carla's Red Hots used to be. Carla's opened in 2020, but has since closed.

In an email to Patch, Lopez described the eatery as a fast casual restaurant with Latin fusion food, including arepas, empanadas, tacos, churros and patacones, among other dishes.
"Panza" means belly in Spanish. The restaurant's website says its cuisine embraces flavors from Colombia, Mexico, Brazil, Venezuela and Cuba, among others.

"Our Latin fusion dishes have an endless amount of flavor combinations that are as exciting as they are delicious," the website says.
